Cookbooks

Cookbooks may seem a little old school these days with the abundance of cooking websites with truly awesome recipes.  However, cookbooks bring to the plate a whole other dimension to the joy of cooking. This is just a pin drop of cookbooks that have shaped my food repertoire that I’d like to share.  I have learned and gained something from each. There’s truly nothing more enjoyable to me than sitting down with my cookbook, looking through the pictures and recipes, (mouth watering), figuring out what my next creation will be.

The beauty of cooking your own food, and being comfortable in the kitchen, is knowing you can adjust most recipes to meet your own personal health needs.

Artisanal Gluten-Free Cooking

Artisanal Gluten-Free Cooking

This book was a gift from a treasured friend of mine, who knew my dietary needs, and found an amazing cook book for me. I was never disappointed with any of the recipes.

Feeding the Whole Family

Feeding the Whole Family

Cooking with Whole Foods: More than 200 Recipes for Feeding Babies, Young Children, and Their Parents

When feeding your family, realize your children don’t need “kid” food, or different meals than you (food allergies aside of course). I learned early on not to be a short-order cook, trust me when I say you don’t need to be one either. Growing up in a traditional Italian-American family, dinner time was family time, and mom never was cooking five hundred different things. There was one meal, we sat down together, and truly enjoyed each other's company. This is one of the fondest memories I have growing up, and a true gift we can give to our children as well.

Nourishing Traditions

The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and Diet Dictocrats

This was a gift from my brother who has always been on the cutting edge and forefront of clean food and holistic nutrition (unbeknownst to him nonetheless). I thank him every day for this gift and opening my world to wholesome, real food nutrition.

Simply Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free

The Best of Cooking Light

The Best of Cooking Light

Over 500 of our all time greatest recipes

I had my first magazine subscription to Cooking Light back in 1992. This truly was the beginning of my journey into cooking healthy. Back then low-fat/fat-free was the craze. Today, the pendulum has swung to the complete opposite. None-the-less, whatever your dietary needs are, or wherever your body feels best, there are many delicious recipes that I have used and loved.

Recipes from the New and Old Worlds, Simplified for the American Kitchen

A gift from my cousin one Christmas, these recipes are amazing and classic Italian. A true go-to, (and my favorite pasta fagioli recipe hands down), if you are in the mood for delicious Italian cuisine.

The New Enchanted Broccoli Forest

Another oldie but a goodie, this is where I discovered the foundation to my most prized potato leek soup.

The Ultimate Southern Living Cookbook

The Ultimate Southern Living Cookbook

The front cover of my copy is literally torn, pages are coming out, and the whole book is held together with a rubber band. I refer to this book all the time, from making a basic gravy, to how to make the perfect crumb on an apple crisp (yes, what else are we supposed to make after a good day of apple picking??).
